Baffert tips his hand?

NAME DROPPING ALERT!

I was speaking with Racing Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert Monday afternoon about his three-year-olds (more specifically The Factor and Jaycito) when a starstruck woman of about 60 approached us.

"Are you the gentleman who wins all those races on TV," she asked Baffert in a heavy German accent.
"I've won a few, yeah," Baffert said.

The woman then told Bob how she watches the Derby on TV in Ohio and always cheers for his horses when she watches races on TV. Then she asked for an autograph, which Baffert obliged. The lady gave the trainer a pen and her Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. March selected two-year-olds in training sale catalog, and the page Baffert decided to sign might provide a clue as to one of day two's top horses.

Baffert opened the book, flipped around a bit, and was very particular about signing the page for hip 265, a Flatter colt who worked a quarter mile in :21.60. Breeze show performance has been a popular indicator of sales ring interest, so Baffert is unlikely to be the only buyer on the colt, but I just hope this lady appreciates what a potential memento she has of her meeting Bob Baffert.
