I am heading West as I type for a respite in the Pacific Northwest with two friends from my heady college days at Denison University. I'm flying to Seattle and then driving to Boise where we're doing an overnight rafting trip on Thursday-Friday before planning to paint the Tree City razzmatazz on the weekend.
I'm not much of an outdoorsy type, so the overnight rafting thing will definitely be an adventure for me, but I'm also not an off-the-grid type, so even though many people have warned me to "be careful" when rafting the Payette River, I'm even more concerned about missing someone saying something stupid on Twitter and me not being around to offer a snide remark.
I do plan to update my Tumblr page throughout the trip with pictures of what I'm eating. I've heard great things about the Boise cuisine scene with its farm-to-table livestock as well as a strong Basque presence. As of right now, it looks as if our meals will be at Bar Gernika, on the river, Cottonwood Grille, and Chandlers Steahouse. My friend who lives in Seattle is taking me to a chow wagon off the plane, and we'll be making fish from the market at his house tonight, so the eats should be pretty good.
See you Monday, by which time I expect Lookin At Lucky to be the undisputed lead of the three-year-old male division.
