Monmouth pick five

It's pretty rare that a bet I generally always play has a five-figure carryover let alone one in the six figures, but that will be the case today when the Monmouth pick five pool opens with $123k+ in the kitty after no one selected the opening day combination.

A pick five wager at a contentious meet with a fifty-cent minimum and 15% takeout is a must for me based on the way I bet, so throwing in $123k to sweeten the pot isn't just icing and a cheery, it's the whole Ponderosa No-Stopping-the-Topping Sundae bar.

It's an interesting sequence because it offers the balance of legitimate but beatable favorites. No horse looks remotely like a cinch to me, but there's not really any obvious underlays that I'd feel comfortable taking a stand against. That means I'll likely tackle it from a Steve Crist-style A-B-C mentality whereby I don't necessarily want all the logical horses to win but I want enough of them to win that I'm covered in the races I'm wrong.

I'm still playing around with this and still waiting to talk to a handicapper I really trust, but here's where I'm at right now:

What say you?
