Solange Chadda remained steadfast in her commitment to race her maiden filly Nicky Boy in a stakes race even as she acknowledged not knowing where the Anziyan Royalty filly is currently in training.
Chadda had been traveling by van from New Mexico to New York on March 31, but said on April 9 that she did not know where Arnulfo Ascencio was training Nicky Boy, who has not posted a workout since March 22 when she breezed four furlongs on the dirt at Sunland Park in :48.20.
Chadda entered the filly for races on March 27 at Fair Grounds and on March 28 at Sunland but scratched both times. She then attempted to enter Nicky Boy for the Wood Memorial on April 3 at Aqueduct, but the New York Racing Association racing office refused her entry on March 31.
Nicky Boy is winless in two starts, losing a maiden special weight race on February 5 at Sunland by 39 lengths when last of seven and losing in the Borderland Derby against males on February 27 when last of nine by 81 lengths. Jeff Mullins trained the filly for her debut, and Arnulfo Ascencio trained her for her stakes try.
It has been two weeks since Chadda tried to enter her filly in the Wood, and although at the time she said she would try to enter her filly in the Arkansas Derby as a prep for the Kentucky Derby, she neither entered Nicky Boy in the former race nor nominated the filly for the latter race.
So wherever Nicky Boy shows up next, it will be somewhere between a maiden race and a Triple Crown race.

this is my favorite story in horse racing right now, she seems like the right kind of crazy.
ReplyDeleteNicky Boy in the entry box, Solange Chadda in the padded cell . . .
ReplyDeleteA filly named Nicky Boy? Watched the borderland replay. All I can say is poor filly.
ReplyDeleteits owners like this that blame the jock or the trainer when the horse gets beat.another RICKS NATURAL STAR
ReplyDeletepeople like her shouldnt be allowed in horseracing its not fair to the horses they own or the people that go to the races and bet on them becuase they dont know any better
ReplyDeleteWhen she enters the filly in all these races, isn't there an entry fee that must be paid each time? Is this entry fee refundable if she does not run?
ReplyDeletewell seems she back at Oaklawn, and rumor has it that stall superintendent, Bev Fowler, is giving her personal attention in acquiring her license and her entry for "Nicky Boy" in a stakes race at Oaklawn in the next couple of weeks.
