... but I'm NOT talking about the United Kingdom.
Being away from the states during the NCAA Tournament is bad enough. The fact that the games start in the middle of the night over here makes it almost unbearable.
I'll say up front, I graduated from the University of Kansas and am a rabid Jayhawks fan. You know, that team that screwed up most of your brackets.
Now that the Chokehawks are out, I had to alter my rooting interests and since I live in Lexington, and actually covered the team for three years when I worked for The Associated Press, I am now cheering wholeheartedly for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, who I had in the title game facing Kansas on my bracket.
The game tonight tips off at 9:57 p.m. EDT, or 5:57 a.m. my time in Dubai. So it will be a VERY early morning for me as I get up to get my jog/waddle out of the way and try to catch the first half before I head for the track. The games are shown on international ESPN channels, so it should not be a problem finding the broadcast. But you can bet I will not be watching the 7:15 p.m. EDT game, no matter who is playing, as it will tip about 3:15 a.m. my time.
Now I just have to figure out how to swing watching the Cats should they win tonight and play again on Saturday since I might be a bit busy with a little thing called the $10-million Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1).
Oh well, could be a lot worse I suppose.
Go Cats!
