I Want Revenge scratches from Kentucky Derby

The connections of I Want Revenge have scratched their Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) and morning line favorite from the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1).

The Churchill Downs media office did not provide details related to the reason for the scratch other than to say that trainer Jeff Mullins, co-owner David Lanzman, and veterinarians Foster Northrop and Larry Bramlage would conduct a press conference at 9 a.m. near the paddock.

"There will be two veterinarians there, so you do the math," Churchill Downs Director of Communications Darren Rogers said.

I Want Revenge was the favorite in the Kentucky Oaks-Derby double with Rachel Alexandra winning the first leg. He closed day one of wagering as the 6-to-1 second choice behind Friesan Fire, who is now the likely favorite.
